Tollywood rules 53rd National Film Award

53rd National Film Awards for 2005 have been announced by a panel of judges. The award for the Best Film of the year 2005 is ‘Kaalpurush – Memories in the Mist’ (Bengali) directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta. The National award winner producer and director of the film gets a Swarna Kamal and Rs 50,000 cash.

Rahul Dholakia has been announced the best director for the film ‘Parzania.  Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has been chosen for the Best Actor Award for the film Black and Black is also, the best feature film in hindi directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The Best actress award goes to blue eyed actress Sarika for her superb acting in the Film ‘Parzania. As the best child artist Sai Kumar has been achieved the award for his performance in Telugu film “Bommalata – A Bellyful of Dreams. THE Best male playback singer Award is given to Naresh Iyer in ‘Rang De Basanti and the best female Playback singer award to Shreya Ghoshal for the song of the film Paheli, directed by Amol Paleker.

Other Film categories awards are: Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment is ‘Rang De Basanti’ (Hindi), directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra. Nargis Dutt Award for the Best Feature Film on National Integration won by ‘Daivanamathil’ (Malayalam), (directed by Jayaraj). Indira Gandhi Award for the Best First Film of a Director goes to the film ‘Parineeta’ (Hindi), (directed by Pradip Sarkar). The Award for the best film on social issues goes to ‘Iqbal’ (Hindi), (Directed by Nagesh Mukunoor).

The award for the best Non- Feature Film has been won by director Gaurav.A.Jani  for Riding Solo To The Top Of The World” (English).

This National Film Awards 2005 has special news for Tamil film industry because Tamil (Tollywood) feature film ‘Sringaram’, directed by Sharada Ramanathan has been getting the three awards for the Best Music Director, Best Cinematography and Best Choreography.
